Thank you for your interest in The Equine Program at The Freedom Ranch for Heroes. We are currently accepting applications for the 2025 summer & early fall season. Please note that submission of this application does not guarantee you a spot in the program. We will notify individuals via e-mail once we have reviewed your application.

In order to ensure the safest and most rewarding experience for you, our program participants, we want to be sure that you understand and embrace the expectations associated with this program. We must enforce these requirements in order to ensure the safety of each individual, and also for the safety of our equine partners. Please review and acknowledge the following pre-program requirements:

1. Reading commitment: commit to thoroughly reviewing all materials sent to you.

2. Comfort Zone expansion: this is a rewarding adventure, please commit to stepping outside your comfort zone and embracing the unknown.

3. We do not allow service animals to be on-site during our equine program.

4. Participants are not permitted to bring their own horse, mule or donkey.

5. Participants must be ambulatory, and have a reasonable level of fitness (ability to balance on one leg, ability to lift knee above hip, capable of lifting 15 pounds above chest level).  

6. We have a firm weight limit of 250 pounds for home-based programs, and 235 pounds for high-country experiences.

7. For high-country experiences, we cannot accommodate participants who have medications that must be refrigerated, or are affected by elevation over six thousand feet. Similarly, we cannot accommodate medical devices that require electricity.

8. We do not permit the use of alcohol while participating in our programs.
